Meet the Team

Dave moved from Big Bear Lake, CA in 1974 to the Oregon Coast where he started his 1st business in 1978. He has been in the auto repair field for most of his adult life. In 1985 he moved to Lane County. He opened Schweitzer’s Automotive Center, and has been in his present location for over 21 years. It started as a 2 bay shop in 1993 and has grown to 18 plus bays. The Center is an ASE Blue Seal Certified Repair Facility and services & repairs domestic and foreign autos, trucks, recreational vehicles and fleet vehicles. The shop is AAA certified and has an A+ Rating with the Better Business Bureau and has been on their Honor Roll since 1996.

Meet David Allen, Service Advisor, who has been with us since 2008. He is the other half of the Dave & David (Schweitzer & Allen) team, who greets you in the office, or answers your calls.
David has service writer certification (among others) but the best qualifications come from his previous experience as a service advisor and from being a hands-on owner of both Dave Allen Automotive and Allen’s Chevron.
Raised in Eugene, he went to college in both Idaho and Klamath Falls, Oregon (OIT). He is also an Army Veteran. He has two sons and likes to bicycle and play pool.

Steve Bruce, Schweitzer’s Automotive’s Bookkeeper, has been here since 2003. He graduated from Oregon State with a degree in accounting and previously worked in the banking industry. In addition to his office duties, he is the person who most often picks up and delivers our customers at either home or their office. He prides himself on his customer service and integrity.
Born in Corvallis, he lived briefly in Los Angeles and Minnesota before returning to Eugene. He has 2 sons and a daughter, all of whom live in the Pacific Northwest.
You may not know that Steve bicycles to work in almost all weather conditions! He likes to build model cars and also does some fishing

Ian Sharp has been at Schweitzer’s for over 10 years. He did not start in automotive, nor in Oregon. Ian was born at the Oakland, CA Naval Hospital and lived in California until moving to Seaside in 1974. He worked in that area at a lumber mill, fish cannery and hatchery-fish-food company. Always interested in cars, he started trade school at Clatsop Community College, and completed his first ASE certifications upon moving to Washington in 1989. Today he is an ASE Master Automobile Technician and ASE Advanced Level Specialist. Ian has been married to his wife, Lora for 15 years and has 5 adult children. They are interested in and ride motorcycles, and are competitive pool players.

Mike Grimm has been with Schweitzer’s Automotive for over 18 years! He started at the age of 16, having applied for a clean-up position which was posted on the job board at South Eugene High School. Mike was born & raised in Eugene. He graduated from South and completed 2 years of classes at the Lane Community College Automotive Program.
Today he is an ASE Certified Master Automobile Technician, having gained on-the-job experience and having taken multitudes of classes along the way. He enjoys working on his own vehicles and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
