If a unit requires an Early Recalibration, the LED screen will display: [EARLY RECAL][SERVICE DUE IN 6 DAYS 23 HOURS AND 59 MINUTES]. During this time you will be allowed to drive your vehicle as usual when the start-up test is passed. An Early Recalibration occurs if you:

  • Fail one (1) start-up or random retest with a BrAC of (0.021) or higher
  • Fail to provide a random retest when one is requested
  • Miss a recalibration

In the event of an Early Recalibration, request a reset through the mobile app. You will then need to visit our service center for device recalibration. The cost is $35. You will also be responsible for any violation fees Intoxalock may impose.

Intoxalock is working with Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles to resolve this issue. Your device must be recalibration every 60 days but you are allowed a 7 day grace period. The next recalibration date in your Intoxalock App is the LAST DAY that you have to get your device recalibrated. Intoxalock has not yet figured out how to work this 7 day grace period into their system, therefore you are being notified 7 days in advance of the 7 days.  Once the intitial 7 day countdown ends, another 7 day countdown will begin. Again, verify your next recalibration date in your Intoxalock App to confirm this is the case with your device.

In order for us to recalibrate your handheld device your vehicle must be present and in operating condition. Unfortunately, if your vehicle does not run you will need to contact Intoxalock at 877-274-8312.

Recalibrations cost $35

No appointment is necessary for recalibrations. These are handled on a walk in basis, Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm. Assuming you do not have any account issues with Intoxalock, this process takes approximately 15 minutes.

Your device will begin a countdown process as your recalibration date approaches. You may recalibrate your device at any time during this countdown. Do not let this countdown expire without visiting our service center for a recalibration or your device may lock you out and prevent you from starting your vehicle! We perform calibrations Monday through Friday 8am- 4:30pm.

Rinse your mouth out really well with water to remove any food particles. If it's due to perfume, try removing your top layer of clothing and wipe off your neck and wrist areas. Provide another sample within 10 minutes. This sample should be clean. You can't be intoxicated one minute and sober the next. IT IS SUPER IMPORTANT that you CALL INTOXALOCK when this happens. They will note your account that it was food, cologne, etc based. Keep them informed of anything out of the ordinary that happens with your device. Once you learn you are eligible for such report, you then need to contact Intoxalock and ask that they send this report to your monitoring agencies.
